Dangerous Ages Rose Macaulay 9781492324126 Books
Dangerous Ages is a fairly short novel about four generations of an English family. It's a very sarcastic and irreverent book--the first three chapters are truly extraordinary, and although the book tails off somewhat afterwards, this is novel that should make almost everyone laugh. It's also a very perceptive look at how one age group (sarcastically) views another. I'm not sure, nowadays, that anyone would dare to say such cynical things about sixty-year-olds, but even though I'm in that age bracket, I loved it.Product details

Very English upper class novel. Compares the female anxieties between young, middle and older generations of a family. Interesting conclusion.
This book is witty and satirical and insightful. I was amazed (dismayed too) to see how societal observations and criticisms (especially about women's roles) made in Britain in 1920 still ring true today. Please give it a try. You have nothing to lose.
This 3 generation saga is set, in rural Brittain post WWI. It's hard to believe it was written in 1921 as the dilemmas and their solutions are so ageless. Beautifully written with humor and empathy.
The style has more than a whiff of Virginia Woolf (not a bad thing) and the subject matter, with its focus on psychoanalysis and sex outside of marriage, is undeniably dated. And yet the writing is skillful and often quite beautiful. Well worth the effort.
